Evian Casino

At the heart of the Evian Resort, the Casino offers its visitors multiple gaming spaces (table games, electronic games, slot machines), five restaurants and bars, shows at the adjoining Antoine Riboud theatre, dinners with a show, as well as lots of events.
Its "Belle Epoque" architecture facing the lake and its light-bathed dome provide an elegant and welcoming atmosphere, inviting visitors to discover this unique venue. Its location and make history make it an emblem of Evian.

Evian, an entertainment destination

In 1877, the Baron de Blonay, then mayor of Evian, a renowned spa town and fashionable holiday destination, bequeathed his family château to the town for the purpose of creating a casino.

In 1885, a neo-classical theatre would be added, built by Jules Clerc, a student of Charles Garnier, today classified as a historic monument.

In 1886, the town hall and the Société des Eaux (Water Company) decided to build a real municipal casino, entrusting the architecture to Jean-Albert Hébrard. Baron de Blonay's residence was not large enough so the Château de Drée, was annexed on the west side. In 1911, the De Blonay château was demolished and Jean-Albert Hébrard created a building with distinctive architecture topped with a Byzantine-inspired dome on the site. Evian Casino was inaugurated on 23rd June 1912.

The municipal casino quickly became the town's focus for entertainment, offering concerts, evenings of theatre and shows, balls, and gambling. The gentry, Paris's high society and international aristocracy all flocked to Evian-les-Bains, the remarkable spa town that was buzzing with energy, just as Baron de Blonay had predicted.

Casino Renovations

In 2021, the Evian Resort began major works managed by the architect Philippe Prost and his firm AAPP  to restore the casino to its original glory and splendour.

The Casino renovations, which finished in 2024, allowed the majority of the establishment to be restored, and have significantly altered the look of the town by ensuring the façade of this emblematic Evian building is fully discernible. The façade is characterised by a transparency enticing one to enter and a curved structure which echoes the horizontality of neighbouring Lake Geneva.

New areas have been created:
An Italian restaurant & a contemporary brasserie with a magnificent view of the lake, open to non-players, and a bar within the slot machine room. The project also gives top billing to gaming with the installation of the very latest cutting-edge machines.

The slot machine area, located beneath the Casino's distinctive dome, 25 metres high, has been restored to its full glory with the restoration of the frescos by Gustave Louis Jaulmes, and now hosts the Cercle bar, inviting guests to discover this luminous space over a cocktail.
